Matt Barkhurst is Vice President of Global Risk Management for Cardinal Health, Inc., an American multinational health care services company.  He leads the team responsible for risk mitigation, retention, and transfer strategies, including placing all non-employee benefit insurance programs, as well as overseeing the operations of EPIC, Cardinal Health’s captive insurance company.  Additionally, he leads the both claim function at Cardinal Health, overseeing litigation, non-litigated claims, and first-party insurance claims, along with business continuity planning.

Prior to joining Cardinal Health, he served as Director of Risk Management at Safelite Group, Inc., a provider of automotive glass repair and replacement services, and Manager of Corporate Insurance at NiSource Inc., a Midwest electric and natural gas utility company.

Before entering risk management, he was a senior associate at Bailey Cavalieri LLC.  There, he served as coverage and monitoring counsel for numerous insurers, focusing primarily on director and officer liability policies, as well as cyber liability policies.

Matt received his B.A. from Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he double-majored in Zoology and Psychology.  He received his J.D. from Capital University Law School in Columbus, OH, graduating summa cum laude.
