Steve Parker joined BIFA as director general in January 2023 after an active career in the logistics industry spanning four decades, most recently at global forwarder DHL where he held responsibility for airfreight and Customs matters. Before joining BIFA full-time, Steve was chair of the BIFA Customs Policy Group and member of the Board of Directors.

During his forwarding career, Steve encountered almost every issue imaginable with shipments experiencing delay, loss or damage and this piqued his interest in the variety of insurance policies available to cargo owners, forwarders and carriers and the reasons that many cite when declining to insure their shipments. Steve has now made it a personal mission to get the message of cargo insurance to BIFA members and their customers, ensuring that everyone can access the appropriate level of cover at the right premium to protect their assets and ultimately their business.
